Thirty-four thousand Black Christian churches (making up 15 denominations, representing 17 million Blacks), the Nation Black Church Initiative (NBCI), have had enough of being bullied by gay groups and their Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) group sympathizers and have broken away after PCUSA amended their constitution to include same-sex couples.
The NBCI President Reverend Anthony Evans said: “PCUSA’s manipulation represents a universal sin against the entire church and its members. With this action, PCUSA can no longer base its teachings on 2,000 years of Christian scripture and tradition, and call itself a Christian entity in the body of Christ. It has forsaken its right by this single wrong act.
“No church has the right to change the Word of God. By voting to redefine marriage PCUSA automatically forfeits Christ’s saving grace . . . . There is always redemption in the body of Christ through confession of faith and adhering to Holy Scripture.” Evans also said that their break from the PCUSA has nothing to do with gay marriage but everything to do with their changing the word of God. I’m not sure of the difference?
Although I grew up going to church and I pray daily, I am not necessarily a religious person who quotes the bible, so I approach the issue of gay “White” rights (are there really any other kind of rights?) from a commonsense perspective. I am Black and I do not like the way gays have compared homosexuality and their pursuit of gay rights to the plight of Blacks. And I have found it absurd that so many Black churches supported and allowed President Barack Obama to manipulate them into supporting their agenda to the peril of Black heterosexuality, and especially Black male heterosexuality (which many of them fear).
Apparently, the disappointment with President Obama and how he’s treated Blacks over the last six or seven years is sinking in and Black people are starting to cool to not only him but also his gay agenda. But now it’s too late; Obama has already done a number on us.
We, Black people, are always “running late.” And when you’re always running late, you always finding yourself finishing last.
